What is Career & College Promise (CCP)? The Career & College Promise Program is North Carolina’s dual enrollment program that allows and pays for Tuition for eligible NC high school juniors and seniors to enroll in College Classes at NC community colleges (CPCC for Cardinals). Students earn college credit and high school credit for practically no cost to them. CCP courses can be a 4 year university transfer course or a career technical certificate course. Courses take place of Berry electives and students can chose from online or face to face classes with CPCC. Students must have their own transportation to leave high school early or arrive late if they chose to do a CPCC class instead of school classes.
Why take CCP courses? Research shows that high school students who take CCP are more likely to attend and graduate from college with an advance certification or degree. Because CCP pays for college classes, the program also helps reduce the cost of college and makes post-secondary education a viable option for those who believe that the cost puts college out of reach for them.
Around 100 Berry juniors and seniors took over 400 college classes via the Career college promise program in the last school year alone
Options for CCP Pathway
- College Transfer Pathway : Designed to meet your general educational requirements for a four-year college degree. These College Transfer Pathways will ensure that each course you complete in the pathway with a grade of C or better will be accepted by all UNC member institutions and equated for lower division general education credit at the university. These classes are offered online or face to face at different CPCC campuses. College Transfer classes count in to your high school GPA the same weight as an AP class( 1 quality point added) Below are the popular choices in college transfer pathways:
Associate in Engineering transfer pathway (PDF)
Associate in Science transfer pathway(PDF)
Associate in Fine Arts - visual arts transfer pathway (PDF)
- Career Technical Education Pathway: For students interested in technical certifications and careers. These courses are aligned closely with the skills required in the industry and can provide certification with as little as six courses. Over 35 CTE pathway choices are offered. Most classes are offered at CPCC and some are offered online. CTE classes transfer to CPCC's associates degrees but are not guaranteed to transfer to a 4 year college. They count in to your high school GPA with the same weight as a regular course (NO quality points added.)
- Check a list of Approved academic pathways (scroll down to program options) and courses available under each pathway
