Phillip O Berry is home to five CTE Pathways
POB CTE students are offered opportunities to participate in internships, work based learning, job shadow, career fairs, field trips, extra curricular activities and a chance to enroll in college classes while in high school through the CPCC Career & College Promise Partnership. Students should check their emails daily to learn about new and upcoming opportunities. All POB CTE students are encouraged to take the industry certification exams which are offered free of cost to them. The current CTE STEM pathways offered at POB and their corresponding industry certifications can be found in the below file:

Opportunity to earn a CTE magnet scholar recognition :
I. Complete your CTE Pathway in one of the below:
III. Minimum of 2 college-level courses (Advanced Placement (AP) / CPCC dual enrollment classes).
IV. Minimum of 4 science courses, including the required sciences (Biology, Earth Science and Physical Science/Chemistry)
V. Cumulative Weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher
VI. Participate in a co-curricular activity (each year) (i.e. school club membership, sports, etc…)
VII. Work based learning completion 120 hours or more* (Internships, job shadowing, mentorship, service learning, volunteer work, other career readiness activities with a completed supervisor evaluation & student reflection summary
In the past POB CTE Magnet Scholars were recognized at our senior awards, received a certificate in addition to their high school diploma and a principal's honor stole to wear at graduation

*Work Based Learning (WBL) completion 120 hours or more can be a combo of activates from grade 9-12 such as Internships, job shadowing, mentorship, service learning, volunteer work, CTE certifications, other career readiness activities with a completed supervisor evaluation & student reflection summary
Any CTE pathway certificates you have completed in your classes can also earn you hours towards this WBL requirement-Tier 1 CTE certificates will yield in 20 hrs, tier 2 is 35 hrs and tier 3 are 50 hrs( details in the form).
To support documentation for their WBL eligibility, Students should complete this reflection form: http://bit.ly/pobwbl A supervisor evaluation is also required for experiences outside the school. Please email this link bit.ly/supervisor_eval to your supervisor and request them to complete the 2 to 5-minute student evaluation online. OR print a hard copy and give to them collect it back in a sealed envelope with their business card if possible and return to Ms. Patel/Front office.
NOTE: Seniors who have completed internships through MYEP, ROC, Mecklenburg County or Road to Hire pathways DO NOT need a supervisor evaluation but should complete the reflection form.
Deadline: All WBL documents and evaluations should be completed by March 31 of your senior year.
